Esso: safety of co-workers - Esso gas Station
I frequent the Esso/TimHortons on Stonechurch Rd. in Hamilton Ont. by the Red Hill parkway. I was astonished on Saturday night when I walked in to purchase cigarettes. The Tim Hortons side was closed for the night and there was one girl working alone during the nightshift. Now I'm quite sure this is illegal. Does the owner not care about her safety. It's the Christmas season and many people are hurting for money. Do you not think she would be an easy target? Even a male alone in this environment is not a good scenario. This establishment should have the doors locked at night and a service window available in the till area to service customers without concern of a threat or robbery. I am a manager and my business MUST have 2 employee's on during the nightshift. If your business doesn't make enough money during this period to afford 2 employee's then maybe it's time to close for the night. Should anything happen to your employee, the costs facing you in a lawsuit would be far worse.
