I went into esso on Dundas and Kendalwood in Whitby to buy cigarettes. Advertised price for premium cigarettes is 11.30 value 10.43.

I purchased Peter Jackson (non premuim) and was charged $12.77. I asked the clerk if Peter Jackson are considered premium he said yes. I then asked " if I'm paying for premium, I'd like to trade for Du Maurier. He then said no. Those will cost $14.27.
I then asked why the big sign advertising cigarettes prices(large,bold lettered sign behind counter on cigarette shelf), displayed premium for $11.30, and value at $10.43(before tax)and why he is charging me a larger price than advertised.
He then replied "I have to go by my sheet,not what our signs say." (which was under a pile of papers beside his register,and he would not show me).
I then said that it is inappropriate to charge customers more money than advertised and would like my money back. This was also denied. I was told if I have a complaint to find the manager.(who was not present)

I am blown away that a company who considers itself a top CANADIAN brand would engage in such dishonest and misleading practices. Clearly, consumers must beware when entering your stores that consumers (white) are not respected in your stores?

Imagine how many people don't even notice......I wonder where that extra money goes ?
